Starting from the Village
Hall proceed up the road passing the Telephone Box on your left and at the T
junction, go straight across keeping the red brick house (Hillside) to your
right. Continue up the narrow path (way
marked as a footpath) and know as

Go through the gate and
keeping hedge and farm buildings on your left and continue through field until
you reach a gate onto the road, turn left and pass the playing fields on your
right. Just past the playing field pass
through a metal gate with a footpath sign.
Note….There are
some excellent views along the valley to the high hills of
Proceed diagonally left
across the field to reach two kissing gates pass through both of them and turn
right along the farm track. Continue and
turn left immediately behind the first farm building on the left and pass
through the gate (way marked). Continue
through two fields with the hedge bank on your right.
At the corner of the second
field cross over the stile and turn left following the field edge until it
meets with a farm track and continue through the farmyard. (Shilstone Farm is mentioned in the Doomsday Book of
1086AD. The name Shilstone (Shelf Stone) relates to the remains
of a Neolithic Megalith which is thought to be nearby). Then after the last
building on your left turn left.
Continue along lane until the road is reached. Turn left and follow this road to Exbourne
Cross, cross the main road with care and continue along to return to the
village hall.
